Welcome to The Belle Curve’s new home on Substack. The blog will turn 7 years old in 2025, so you might call this a bit of the seven-year itch. Truthfully, I’ve made many changes to my life recently, several of which I plan to share with you soon.
Online life has also changed a lot. When I first started writing The Belle Curve, I enjoyed immediate dialogue with readers by sharing posts on the social media site formerly known as Twitter. As my Twitter community became less engaging, I tried my hand at other forms of social media. Instagram is not my medium. I’m a terrible photographer and an even worse video editor. TikTok was, therefore, a nonstarter. I must say that LinkedIn has made massive improvements, but I don’t want to wait two weeks to find out how a post is received.
I began to notice some of my favorite writers migrating to Substack. First, I subscribed to Sam Ro’s TKer newsletter. Then Doug and Heather Boneparth started The Joint Account. I discovered a fantastic new podcast from Money with Katie’s host, Katie Gatti Tassin, called Diabolical Lies, which is hosted here. The reader experience has been a good one for me. A trend was emerging.
In late January, I attended a retreat with three amazing women who are peers in the personal finance world. We gathered in the desert for a few days to compare notes, share challenges, form friendships, and help hold each other accountable for our goals. AJ Ayers of Money Changes Everything asked if I had ever considered moving to Substack. A few weeks later, I remembered her question and explored making the move. Many thanks to RWM’s COO, Nick Maggiulli, for the technical assistance.
And so a new chapter begins for The Belle Curve. I look forward to picking up where I left off - sharing my thoughts about money, markets, personal finance, and investing from the perspective of women. Lord knows we need more of that these days!
Yours Humbly,
Blair
